Biography

Raised in L.A. as Juliana Michele Rein, Juliana moved to San Diego for university straight out of high school. She majored in Classics with an emphasis in Classical Humanities at San Diego State University. In her senior year, she studied at the University of Bristol, England. While abroad, Juliana tried to blend into British culture and travel, toured around Great Britain, took a ski trip to Austria, and back packed through Italy, Greece, and Turkey.

The return to San Diego was short-lived. After catching the travel bug, Juliana decided it was time to see her own country. This entailed taking an eight week camping tour through the national parks of the western U.S. and Canada. After a short stint working in her hometown of L.A., she continued the journey by spending five weeks in New Zealand.

Juliana came home and completed her proudest achievement, a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Science in May 1997. She celebrated this achievement by quitting food service and taking a  job as a tour leader. For two summer seasons she escorted foreign vacationers around our beautiful national parks spending the better part of two seasons living out of a van. During the winter season she drove the same vans for a ground transportation company in Vail, Co where she learned U.S history, geology, and how to downhill ski from Canadian friends.

Juliana returned to San Diego in 1999 to complete her teaching credential at National University. Receiving both a multiple subject and a single subject credential for social science, she began her career in Fall 2001 teaching 7th and 8th grade English at Samuel Gompers Secondary School. After two years, she accepted a position teaching social studies at Pacific Beach Middle School where she’s been ever since. Juliana returned to her alma mater, San Diego State University, where she completed her Master of Arts in Educational Technology in 2009. She is now embarking in a credential in Administration from SDSU, which will be completed in December 2014.

In July 2005 she married Paul Liebke, and racked up a travel list frequenting Utah, honeymooning in Thailand, and vacationing in Jamaica and Spain. Reading, skiing, hiking, and river rafting remain her favorite past times. They live with their precious son and two cats, Charley and Spooky.Charley and Me
