February 2000 – present

August 2003 – Present:  Pacific Beach Middle School (7th and 8th grade teacher)

  • Teach 4-5 class periods of social science and art to pupils in grade 7
  • Certified as a Master Instructor (MI) in the Intel® Teach PL Essentials Course
  • Assist in additional school programs as part of a middle school teaching assignment
  • Develop and implement curriculum according to California State Standards (See 7th grade curriculum here)
  • Receive training and implement International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) Areas of Interaction for Social Studies and Art
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction through planned learning activities that adapt to the needs of the social science curriculum and student individual needs
  • Utilized shared and guided reading practices to acclimate students to grade level text and enhance critical thinking abilities
  • Outline units of study and develop learning plans as requested

Driver, Colorado Mountain Express

Winter:  1998 and 1999

  • Safely and smoothly driving 15 passenger vans an average of 560 mountain miles/day between Vail and Denver
  • Basic maintenance of vans and keeping a daily log of driving hours and miles as required by the DMV
  • Mapping out routes to guests’ homes and resorts as well as providing good customer service while handling heavy luggage and ski equipment

Tour Manager/Driver and Sales Rep., AmeriCan Adventures

Summer:  1997 and 1998

  • Safe driving including the same responsibilities as Colorado Mountain Express
  • Teaching campground etiquette and delegating camp chores
  • Provide daily briefings and commentary on North American History, Geography, Geology, and culture
