Philosophy of Education
Life is a game. Winning the game (the object) means making yourself happy. If the game ends and you’re not happy, then you’ve lost and you might have to start all over again. To play, however, you have to learn the rules. Some are easy to learn, some are more difficult–in the end, you still have to learn them if you want to be happy. If making yourself happy requires changing some rules, more power to you, especially if it benefits other players.
A well-rounded education is the key to learning those rules:
Math: teaches you how to solve problems
Language Arts: teaches the art of communication whose mastery means you can peacefully get what you want.
Humanities: helps you learn from past mistakes, appreciate the present, and contribute to the future.
Science: Helps you keep up with the game by keeping your mind open because the rules are always changing.
All disciplines should provide consistent tools that include:
- Organization
- Critical-thinking
- Technology
